Compliance

Time progresses
People age and die
Years are consumed
Yet we're forgotten

A ripple in the pond of existence
Eerily replaced all too often

Wow I just made the word limit (140 characters) for Words Count with Mama Zen!

I recently visited the Dali Museum in St. Pete, Florida. It was wonderfully surreal! This poem is inspired by his painting The Persistence of Memory.  Hope you all enjoy :)

Locked Away

Boy! Re-reading this really hit home! I wrote this last year and while I do still find much in common with this poem, my attitude is most certainly more optimistic. Hope you all enjoy :)

Dizzyingly disconnected from the world I inhabit
Reality is so close I can almost grab it

But with a mind clouded by haze
I stumble over words, and destroy a phrase

Sometimes it’s hard to see meaning in this
A life unfulfilled; away its been pissed

The times that days are clear
Are welcome changes that I fear

Not because clarity is something to despise
It’s a revelation I’d rather not realize

Because the days that follow are the worst of all
An attainment, in which I wish to stall

It’s an awful reminder of what one can be
When locked in a cage and never set free

Conversation....or lack thereof

I'm happy to be involved in the first Play it Again, Toads! Thanks to imaginary garden with real toads. I decided to go with Archive #1 working conversation into a poem!

Hey what's up?
Not much you?
Nothing really.
Nothing. Really?

Overly exaggerated menial talks
Lead to such insincere formalities

How's the weather?

Having lost interest in our own words
We talk as if no one is listening

The most empty of words; small talk
Wasting time and imprisoning

Locked in a vaccuum
Void of importance

Learning shortcuts
Social avoidance

Flicker

This is my attempt at the It's in the Eyes prompt! Thanks for the challenge http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/! And by the skin of my teeth I made the 75 word limit....with exactly 75 words! Hope you all enjoy :)

My eyes
Your eyes
Her eyes

Look into these eyes!

What do you see?

Can you see?

Everything is going wrong
Corruption has taken its toll

The life of a woman has been drained
Lost, without the mother’s roll

My existence was her doing
What could be left

She taught me love
And now I’m bereft

A flicker of life is all that remains
Now empty are her eyes
Back from whence she had came

Tanka Poetry!

I was introduced to the wonderful tanka poetry from the blog http://withrealtoads.blogspot.com/. This is my attempt at this beautiful form!

The towering tree
Cast an expansive shadow
What pleasure to see
Creating smiles for all
Everyone, including me

Keep Falling

Do you hear the sound?
Abounding, resounding, all around

Enveloping your mind in this trance
Mesmerized from this "quick" glance

They fall, they plop; raindrops
Plummeting towards the earth, then stop

As if sent in a way to create a tune
Calming my mind, a glorious boon

And now as the rainfall subsides
I reflect on the peace that it provides
