Conversation....or lack thereof

I'm happy to be involved in the first Play it Again, Toads! Thanks to imaginary garden with real toads. I decided to go with Archive #1 working conversation into a poem!

Hey what's up?
Not much you?
Nothing really.
Nothing. Really?

Overly exaggerated menial talks
Lead to such insincere formalities

How's the weather?

Having lost interest in our own words
We talk as if no one is listening

The most empty of words; small talk
Wasting time and imprisoning

Locked in a vaccuum
Void of importance

Learning shortcuts
Social avoidance

A whole lot of truth in those two lines. Thanks for playing, Sean.

  2. I like your play with punctuation - Nothing really.
    nothing. really?
So true - everyone talks of racing around, not enough time, so really? nothing?

  3. yeah but nobody says "Nothing. Really?" because nobody actually asks for or wants a real answer, as you rightly suggest.

  4. When conversations turn mundane it's mostly that we fear silence too much... is there anything we fear more than silence... great conversation... I have to remember these frases... how are you? .. just fine... (not used them in a while and going to the US tomorrow)

  7. I notice it more and more lately! I have been consciously trying to appreciate conversation more and more. It is a miracle we can communicate in such a beautiful way. We shouldn't squander it!
